Building our Economy and Jobs
Nevada continues to struggle with too many people unable to find work. Creating jobs and spurring economic growth continued to be top priorities for me, for all of us, this last legislative session. I was proud to work on and support a number of pieces of legislation that will help create jobs and strengthen our economy moving forward, like Assembly Bills 125, 138, 294 and 333.
I want Nevada schools to lead the country in providing quality education to all of our children. Strong schools not only give our children a better future, they also help create jobs in our local economy: businesses will start up, choose to expand, or move to places where they can hire well-educated workers.
Diversifying our State’s Economy
Diversification of our state’s economy is critical for job growth, and we must continue to focus on getting people back to work. New industries and steady jobs create the stable and reliable revenue streams that the state needs to invest in education, and infrastructure, and to fund other essential services like those for seniors, veterans, public safety, and health care. These services benefit all our citizens, and businesses small and large.
Ensuring that taxpayers’ money is spent in the most efficient and effective way possible is one of my top priorities – they’re my family’s tax dollars too!
